Update On VIBUK Campaign December 2023

Vaccine Injured Bereaved UK (VIBUK) have been busy since our last update in which we shared the change in law, that means that the payment is now disregarded for the injured person and for those bereaved partners who receive a means tested benefit.

So what have we been up to…..

• We continue to campaign for change to the VDPS with members writing to the new Minister for Health and Social Care Victoria Atkins. Members have had positive responses from their MPs confirming they have written to the minister to express the failings of the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme, but in particular asking the Minister to commit to a review of the £120,000 award which has not been increased since 2007.

We will update when we have news.
• VIBUK along with UKCV family and Scottish VIG have been accepted as core participants of the Covid 19 Inquiry. Members of all three groups attended the preliminary meeting of Module 4 of the inquiry in London on 13th September 2023 to see Anna Morris KC present their joint statement.

You can watch at the link below. Anna’s presents the statement from 1hour 55 minutes. The statement includes comments on the failing of the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme and the experiences of those affected by a vaccine injury or bereavement.
